Porciano is an old medieval village, not very far from Vinci, rich in history and traditions. It can be traced back to the 13th century, when the present church of St. George was built, which was restored more times in the following centuries. The two medieval towers still standing have lost a good half of their original height. The town is built along the perimeter of the Royal Park of the Medici, which was a game preserve. A series of walls, built around1630, 40 Km long and 2 m. high, encloses several woods in the Montalbano district. Lampaggio, where the farm lies, is an old medieval village, mentioned in documents since 1222, when a Sinibaldi living there was ordered to give evidence in a controversy between the Bishop and the municipality. The name “Lampaggio” is supposed to come from a nickname given to one of its inhabitants. Being slim (”lampaggio”), he was quick and fast in plundering houses in search of loaves of bread.

Many families lived in the farm “Il Lampaggio”
The household belonged to Principi Rospigliosi; it had been given to their farmers to live in. If you have a close look at the south wall, you will notice a stone on which you can read: Iosef.Rosp.P.S.R.I.- Prince of the Sacred Roman Empire. Above it you’ll see the coats - of- arms of the family. During the 18th the Martellis lived there until 1875, then the farm was in the hands of the Gori family, nicknamed "Voce". This nickname has been given to a chestnut wood in the "Baghera"site. At the beginning of last century the Cammilli succeeded the Goris, whose descendants still live in the village. The present farm has been set up by the Iuppas, who have been living in the house since 1984.
